Pune Civic Body Cracks Down on Negligence Regarding Hoarding Violations

Pune Municipal Corporation

The Pune Municipal Corporation has taken strict action against three of its employees for negligence in taking action against hoarding owners for violations. The civic body has suspended the license inspectors in the matter after they failed to respond to the show-cause notices issued by their seniors over the issue. All three suspended officials were deployed at the Kasba Vishrambaug Ward office.

Addressing Hoarding Violations

According to officials, it is mandatory to maintain a minimum distance of one meter between hoardings once permission is granted. However, the civic body found three such hoardings near Sambhaji Police Chowki that were in violation of this rule. After receiving complaints, the additional municipal commissioner and concerned officials from the signage department visited the spot and discovered violations of various rules during the installation of the hoardings. Show-cause notices were issued to the license inspectors of the ward office regarding this matter, but none of them responded.

Suspension Orders Issued

The Deputy Municipal Commissioner has issued suspension orders for Rajendra Kevate, Surendra Raut, and Laxmikant Shinde due to their negligence. The officials were also instructed to restrict advertisements on the hoardings in question after the inspection, but the concerned officials did not take action, and the hoarding owners continued to display the advertisements. A divisional enquiry will be conducted into the actions of the three suspended officers for negligence, and further actions will be taken against them in accordance with the rules, said officials.
