In the midst of controversy surrounding the recruitment process for the Pune Metro project, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has provided a comprehensive clarification regarding the publication of recruitment advertisements in Bihar. The PMRDA’s response comes in the wake of protests and objections raised against the decision to seek potential employees from other states.
Advocate Vidyut More was among those who expressed concerns about the recruitment strategy, prompting the PMRDA to issue a letter elucidating the reasons behind their actions. According to the authority, the decision to explore skilled employees from outside Maharashtra was taken after a series of unsuccessful attempts to attract qualified candidates from the state.
The PMRDA explained that the recruitment process for various positions in the Pune Metro project is being facilitated by Tata Projects Ltd. The company, responsible for the implementation of the project, had published recruitment advertisements on nine separate occasions within Maharashtra. Despite these concerted efforts, a lack of skilled and technically experienced candidates suitable for the project’s requirements was observed.
Given this challenge, the decision to extend the recruitment search to Bihar was made. The PMRDA clarified that the intention was to tap into a broader pool of talent in order to ensure that the project receives the skilled workforce it demands.
However, the PMRDA’s response also reassured concerned parties that the Bihar recruitment drive was not a permanent solution. The authority indicated that the Bihar advertisement campaign has been halted, and a fresh recruitment advertisement will be published exclusively in Maharashtra.
