Hadapsar, Pune, March 5, 2024: In a proactive move to combat illegal encroachments, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) conducted a robust anti-encroachment drive near Mantri Market in Hadapsar on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. Led by Encroachment Inspector Dhammanand Sopan Gaikwad, the operation aimed to remove unauthorized hawkers and reclaim public spaces.
Gaikwad, along with a team comprising six encroachment inspectors, including Dipali Bhalchim, Suraj Jaronde, Mahesh Jagdale, and Kiran Shinde, collaborated with seven Bigari Sevak volunteers, two police officers, seven jawans from the Maharashtra Security Force, and two encroachment trucks to carry out the action.
Reports from the operation indicate the confiscation of various items used for illegal encroachments, including 7 hand carts, 5 vegetable vendors’ setups, 7 flower stalls, 1 clothes cart, 2 Tadgola carts, 1 cot, 5 low stands, 16 carats, 1 low table, 1 umbrella, and 1 fork. The PMC, through the Hadapsar-Mundhwa ward, took decisive steps to clear the area of unauthorized structures and ensure public spaces remain accessible to all residents.
The anti-encroachment drive reflects PMC’s commitment to maintaining order and accessibility in public spaces, addressing concerns raised by residents regarding the unauthorized occupation of thoroughfares.
