Passenger Outcry: Unclean Wash Basins Raise Concerns on Pune-Kanyakumari Train

Passengers on a train journey from Pune to Kanyakumari on Thursday, February 22, 2024, voiced complaints about unclean wash basins in Coach S5. The unhygienic condition and unpleasant odor of the basin were brought to attention through a tweet directed at Central Railways.

The tweet, posted on X (formerly Twitter), read, “@RailminIndia Pune to Kanyakumari train S5 coach basin situation… not clean, even dirty smells.”

Responding to the passenger’s grievance, Ram Paul Barpagga, Public Relations Officer of Pune Division, Central Railway, assured that a complaint has been registered with the station director. Steps will be taken to address the cleanliness issue not only in Coach S5 but across all coaches. Barpagga emphasized that commuters traveling from Pune to Kanyakumari on the same day would not face similar problems.

For long-distance journeys, such as the route from Pune to Kanyakumari, maintaining clean toilets and washbasins is crucial. Considering the usage by multiple passengers, regular cleaning intervals should be enforced to ensure a sanitary environment.
