Neglected Gem: Wanowrie’s Late Bapusaheb Kedari Swimming Pool Pleads for PMC Attention

The Late Bapusaheb Kedari Swimming Pool in Wanowrie, Pune, has been a cherished recreational spot for citizens since its inception in 1995. However, the pool has been closed since December 2023, raising concerns among residents about its deteriorating condition. Despite a tender being published for maintenance in the same month, repair work is yet to commence, leaving the swimming pool in a state of disrepair.

According to citizens and regular swimmers, the pool’s facilities have been neglected, with cracked tiles, an outdated filter system, leaking rooms, unusable toilets, and various safety hazards. The sorry state of the swimming pool has prompted several Wanowrie citizens to appeal to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for swift action to reopen the pool with necessary repairs and improvements.

Balasaheb Patil, in charge of PMC Wanowrie Ramtekdi Ward Office, assured citizens that the PMC would consult with relevant departments to find a solution for reopening the pool with proper maintenance. The request from swimmers emphasizes the urgency of restoring the swimming pool to ensure the convenience and safety of both citizens and swimming enthusiasts.

As Wanowrie’s Late Bapusaheb Kedari Swimming Pool awaits a revival, citizens hope that the PMC will address the pressing issues and provide a renewed and safer recreational space for the community.
