Market Yard, Pune – The much-anticipated arrival of Devgad Hapus, also known as Alphonso mangoes, marked its presence at the Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Yard in the Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee on Sunday, November 26. Grown in Razzad Kachi’s orchard, the initial box of these premium mangoes fetched an impressive sum of Rs 21,000.
The journey of Devgad mangoes from Razzad Kachi’s orchard to Pune, via Mumbai, culminated in an exciting start to the season. The first box, containing 60 succulent mangoes, was quickly snapped up by buyers Jyotiram Birajdar and Jagannath Vanjari from Kothrud. The enthusiastic purchase set the tone for subsequent sales, with prices varying between Rs 15,000 and Rs 11,000 per box.
Yuvraj Kachi, the mango dealer, shared insights into the unfolding season, noting that the Devgad Hapus season will progress in stages, with the mainstream season expected to kick off in February.
