A Walk Through the Katraj – Bopdev Trail

To simplify navigation, the trek is divided into parts.

  1. Start Point to the First Hill:
    • Trail begins left of the Katraj old tunnel, leading to a small goddess temple.
    • Ascend to the first big hill, passing network towers and entering a cluster of trees.
  2. First Hill to Forest Valley:
    • Exit the tree cluster and turn right to ascend steeply.
    • Spectacular views of Pune city and Mumbai – Bangalore highway.
    • Enter a dense forest, navigating through various trails.
  3. Forest Valley to the Temple:
    • Walk in the same direction through the forest, emerging into the other half of the valley.
    • The trail naturally turns left, leading to the next ascend.
    • Ascend eastward, reaching the Bopdev temple and ghat.

Things to Carry During the Trek

  1. Small backpack with water (2 liters) and energy bars.
  2. Rainwear during the rainy season.
  3. Trekking or hiking shoes, preferably waterproof.
  4. Mosquito repellent.
  5. Avoid shorts due to tall grass and bushes.
