For several days, the residents of Katraj, including areas like Shelarmala, Mauli Nagar, Rajas Society, Katraj-Kondhwa Road, Shivashambhonagar, Sukhsagarnagar, and Sainagar, have been grappling with recurring power outages that disrupt daily life and pose a threat to electrical appliances due to unstable voltage fluctuations.
Citizens report enduring up to five or six power interruptions each day, with each outage spanning up to two hours before power is restored. The inconsistent power supply has led to mounting inconvenience, driving residents to call for swift action from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).
“The power outages have a severe impact on the functionality of elevators in high-rise buildings, making it particularly challenging for senior citizens who must navigate stairs,” expressed a local resident. “We also face difficulties in pumping water to upper floors during these interruptions.”
Local businesses are also feeling the effects of these outages. Prasad Pande, a salon owner in the area, lamented, “My equipment has suffered damage due to the fluctuating voltage. This is taking a toll on my business.”
Sanjay Ghodke, Deputy Engineer at MSEDCL, acknowledged the issue and stated, “We are aware of the outages caused by phase slippage or minor breakdowns. We are actively working to address these issues promptly and are committed to delivering uninterrupted power supply to all areas.”
As the problem persists, the frequent power outages not only disrupt residents’ daily routines but also cast doubt on the dependability of the city’s power infrastructure. In the face of growing frustration, citizens are resolute in their demand for immediate and sustainable solutions to ensure a consistent power supply.
