The Department of Community Medicine at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, is set to host a comprehensive workshop on Health Technology Assessment (HTA) on September 11 and 12, 2023. The workshop, under the guidance of Chief Patron Lt Gen Narendra Kotwal, Director and Commandant of AFMC, aims to provide specialized training and educational sessions to healthcare professionals from various fields, including policymakers, program managers, public health specialists, clinicians, researchers, and academia.
This event is open to professionals from the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), National Institute of Virology (NIV), National AIDS Research Institute (NARI), and local medical colleges in Pune. The workshop will delve into the intricacies of Health Technology Assessment, exploring its conceptual framework, recent developments in the field, and its significant role in healthcare policy formulation. Collaborating with the ICMR NIV HTA Centre of Pune and partnered with DRDO, this workshop brings together experts and thought leaders in the field.
Distinguished plenary speakers scheduled to share their insights during the event include Maj Gen Atul Kotwal, SM, VSM (Retd), Executive Director of the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC), Dr. Akshay Jain, Joint Director of the National Health Authority, and Maj Gen Punit Yadav (Retd), Professor at the International Institute of Health Management Research. Maj Gen D Vivekanand, Dean and Deputy Commandant of AFMC, will chair and guide the plenary sessions on the first day of the workshop.
