Extended Operating Hours for Pune Metro: Trains to Start at 6 AM and Run Till 11 PM Starting August 17

Pune, August 14, 2023: In response to the demands of commuters and to cater to the early morning travel needs of the city’s residents, Pune Metro officials have made a significant announcement. Starting from August 17, the metro trains will commence operations at 6 AM instead of the previous 7 AM timing. Additionally, the metro service will extend its operations until 11 PM, offering an additional hour of travel time compared to the earlier closure at 10 PM. This decision was prompted by multiple requests from the public to extend the metro service hours.

The impetus for this change came from Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who personally experienced the metro’s services last week. After interacting with commuters who raised the request for early morning trains, Pawar recommended that the metro officials consider this change to better serve the public.

This alteration is expected to address the concerns of several groups, including students and office-goers. Many colleges in the city begin their classes at 7 AM, making it challenging for students to reach on time if the first metro train starts at 7 AM. Similarly, individuals who need to travel outside the city for work have requested an earlier start to ensure they can catch mail express trains departing from Pune Railway Station.

The Pune Metro has been receiving positive feedback and growing ridership since the launch of its extended routes. Presently, the metro service operates between Pimpri Chinchwad and Civil Court Station, as well as Ruby Hall Clinic and Vanaz Metro Station via Civil Court. The extension of operating hours is expected to further enhance the convenience and accessibility of the metro service for Pune residents.
