Former Deputy Mayor Aba Bagul of Pune has voiced discontent over what he perceives as a lack of recognition for loyalty within the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress during the ongoing Nyay Yatra led by Congress national leader Rahul Gandhi.
In a recent press conference, Bagul, a prominent contender for the Pune Lok Sabha seat, expressed disappointment over being overlooked in the candidate selection process despite his longstanding dedication to the Congress party.
“Despite dedicating four decades of unwavering loyalty to the Congress, my candidacy for the Lok Sabha elections was disregarded without explanation,” lamented Bagul, questioning the party’s decision-making criteria and highlighting the nomination of individuals who recently joined Congress from other parties.
Bagul underscored the abundance of capable individuals within the party, including himself, who were overlooked in favor of newcomers, attributing this to a predetermined policy enforcing the principle of ‘one person, one post.’
Expressing concern over the party’s deviation from its principles, Bagul cautioned against descending into factional politics and urged leaders to prioritize loyalty over personal agendas.
In response to the party’s decision, Bagul announced plans to convene a meeting of loyalists to determine the next course of action, emphasizing the need for the party to reassess its stance and reconsider his candidacy.
Bagul’s outspoken critique reflects underlying discontent within the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress, highlighting the delicate balance between loyalty and political pragmatism amidst the Nyay Yatra.
