Empowering the Future: MIT-WPU Hosts Leaders to Rally Youth for 13th Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad

In a significant gathering at MIT-WPU, Kothrud campus, Pune’s academic leaders joined forces to encourage India’s youth to actively participate in the 13th Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad (BCS), also known as the Indian Student Parliament. Scheduled to take place from January 10th to 12th, 2024, at the MIT-WPU campus in Kothrud, this three-day conclave aims to empower the youth with diverse perspectives on democracy.

The inauguration session of the 13th Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad will feature distinguished dignitaries, including the Ex. Vice President of India, Venkaiah Naidu; Member of the UK’s Parliament House of Lords, Meghnad Desai; leader Sharad Pawar; President of the University of Vermont, Suresh Garimella; and Business Consultant Ramcharan. Their participation adds a blend of experience, expertise, and global perspectives to the event.

The preliminary program, attended by esteemed education leaders from Pune, paved the way for the main BCS event. Leaders such as Dr. Suresh Gosavi, Dr. M. D. Lawrence, Dr. Sanjay Chordiya, Dr. Nandkumar Nikam, Dr. Sunil Adsule, and Dr. Devidas Golhar were present. The event was presided over by Lt. General A K Singh – PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, ADC (Retd.), Ex Southern Army Commander & Ex Lieutenant Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Island and Puducherry.

Rahul Karad, Executive President of MIT-WPU, expressed gratitude to the guests and educators, stating, “BCS aligns with our mission to foster ethical, spirited, and competent public leaders. These leaders will play a pivotal role in shaping policies and revitalizing our democracy.”

The Bhartiya Chhatra Sansad (BCS) draws politically and socially active students from 25,000+ colleges and 400 universities. It offers insights for civil service exam preparation through engaging discussions, expanding perspectives beyond traditional academic settings. Confirmed speakers for this year’s BCS include Dr. Vikram Sampat, Adv. Abha Singh, Dr. Shehla Rashid, Shri. Imran Pratapgarhi, Swami Mukundananda, and Smt. Khushbu Sundar. The event ensures active involvement in discussions covering both national and global issues.
