Pune Rainfall

Pune, 20th August 2023: The emergence of a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal has set the stage for favorable rain conditions across the state, including Pune. On Saturday, the city experienced intermittent episodes of very light to light rainfall in various areas. Meteorological forecasts point to an expected resurgence in monsoon activity in the upcoming week.

Throughout Saturday, the sky exhibited a blend of partly cloudy conditions. However, as the day progressed, cloud cover intensified, resulting in light showers across numerous locales in the evening. The city recorded an average precipitation of under 0.5 mm. According to weather experts, cloudy skies are projected to persist over the city and the district for the following week, occasionally accompanied by very light rain.

At present, the low-pressure belt, indicative of the monsoon’s presence, has returned to its normal state. The monsoon center holds influence over regions including Ganganagar, Narnul, Datia, Satana, with the low-pressure center extending to Balasore in the Southeast Bay of Bengal.

Cyclonic winds are sweeping across North West Madhya Pradesh and its surrounding areas, at an altitude of 3.1 km above sea level.

Statewide Weather Overview: Across the state, overcast conditions prevail, coupled with a noticeable increase in temperatures. Isolated rain showers have been observed in specific areas. For Sunday (20th), a weather advisory warns of heavy rain in isolated locations in Vidarbha’s districts, encompassing Akola, Amravati, Yavatmal, Wardha, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Bhandara, Nashik, and Jalgaon in North Maharashtra. The rest of Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Madhya Maharashtra are likely to experience rain accompanied by lightning.
