Pune Traffic Authorities Roll Out Diversion Plan Ahead of PM Modi’s Election Rally

As Pune gears up to host a pivotal Lok Sabha election meeting on April 29, 2024, the Maharashtra Home Department has put forth a comprehensive traffic diversion plan. The objective is clear: to ensure seamless traffic flow and mitigate congestion during the anticipated event.

Under the directive of Rohidas Pawar, Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic Branch, Pune City, the following temporary road closures have been announced:

  • Turf Club Chowk Road Closure: Traffic will be redirected to facilitate two-way movement from the water tank in the racecourse area to Turf Club Chowk road.
  • Turf Club Main Entrance Closure: Access from Turf Club main entrance to Turf Club Chowk will be temporarily suspended.
  • Closure at Arjun Road Junction on Solapur Road: The route leading to the Turf Club main entrance will be closed off.
  • Closure from Bishop School Circle to Turf Club Chowk: This stretch of road will also be inaccessible during the specified period.

To navigate around the affected areas, alternative routes have been proposed:

  • Golibar Maidan to Bhairobanala (Solapur Road): Motorists can take the alternate route via Golibar Maidan Chowk to Lullanagar.
  • Bhairobanala to Golibar Maidan Chowk (Solapur Road): An alternative route is available through Bhairobanala to Lullanagar.
  • Mor Odha to Bhairobanala (Empress Garden Road): Two alternate routes are suggested:
    1. Mor Odha – Ghorpadi Railway Gate B.T. Kawde Road.
    2. War Memorial to Ghorpadi to Dobarwadi via BT. Kavade Road.
  • Bhairobanala to Morodha: Motorists can take the alternate route via B.T. Kawade Junction to B.T. Kavade Road via flyover to reach their destination.
  • Mor Odha to Mammadevi (via Kahun Road Junction Beur Road): An alternate route is proposed through Mor Odha – Sadan Command – Council Hall – Behind Blue Nile to reach the desired location.

In light of the expected disruptions, motorists are advised to plan their routes meticulously and consider using external roads to circumvent the affected areas. Recommended routes include Nagar Road via Poultry Farm Chowk to Sangamwadi, Solapur Road to Jedhe Chowk, Lullanagar, Gangadham Chowk, Satara Road, Mantarwadi, Khadimachin Chowk, Katraj Road, external bypass roads, Kharadi Bypass, Mundhwa, and Noble Hospital Road.

Traffic authorities anticipate sluggish movement in areas such as Golibar Maidan, Mammadevi Chowk, Bhairobanala Chowk, Ambedkar Putla Chowk Camp, Koregaon Park Junction, Tadigutta Chowk, and Noble Hospital during the specified hours.

As the event draws near, the Pune City Traffic Branch calls upon motorists to extend their cooperation and adhere to the diversion plan for a smooth and hassle-free commute on April 29, 2024, from 14:00 to 22:00 hours.
