Akshaya Tritiya Triggers Surge in Alphonso Mango Demand

As the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya approaches this Friday, the Pune Market Yard witnesses a remarkable surge in demand for Ratnagiri Alphonso mangoes. Traders are bustling with activity, attributing the uptick to the festive fervor, resulting in a noticeable increase in imports and prices, up by 10%.

Rising Demand and Prices

The market saw an influx of approximately 10,000 to 11,000 boxes of mangoes from Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Raigad districts last Sunday, marking a significant 10% surge from the previous week. Correspondingly, prices have also surged by 10%, with rates ranging from 800 to 2500 rupees per box of 4 to 8 dozen raw mangoes. Ready-to-eat mangoes, a popular choice among consumers, are being sold at Rs 400 to Rs 800 per dozen. This spike in demand is directly linked to the impending Akshaya Tritiya celebration, prompting both retailers and domestic consumers to stock up on this seasonal delicacy.

Influx of Karnataka Alphonso Mangoes

In addition to the traditional Ratnagiri variety, the market has witnessed a notable increase in arrivals of Karnataka Alphonso mangoes. Despite recent fluctuations in supply, the past few days have witnessed a significant surge in Karnataka Alphonso mangoes, with prices ranging from Rs 800 to Rs 1400 per box of 4 to 5 dozen, contingent upon quality and size. Anticipating sustained high demand, traders foresee a continued influx over the next month.

Festive Fervor Fuels Market Excitement

With the festive spirit fueling both demand and prices, mango aficionados are flocking to the market, eager to indulge in the delectable offerings of this seasonal delight. The allure of Akshaya Tritiya coupled with the unparalleled taste of Alphonso mangoes creates an irresistible combination, further accentuating the market’s bustling atmosphere.

As the countdown to Akshaya Tritiya continues, the Pune Market Yard remains abuzz with activity, serving as a testament to the enduring popularity and cultural significance of Alphonso mangoes in the region.
