Advancing Infrastructure: Key Approvals for Purandar Airport Project

Purandar Airport Development

Pune News: Murlidhar Mohol, the recently appointed Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, has revealed significant progress in the development of the proposed airport in Purandar. Mohol announced that the project has successfully navigated major technical obstacles, receiving approvals from both the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Approval Milestones

During his first visit to Pune after assuming office, Mohol shared this pivotal development with reporters. According to him, the MoD granted approval in May 2024, followed by the recent approval from the DGCA. These approvals mark a significant milestone, addressing approximately 99% of the technical issues associated with the proposed airport.

Next Steps: Land Acquisition

Mohol emphasized that the next crucial step is land acquisition for the project. He plans to collaborate closely with key stakeholders such as the Airports Authority of India (AAI), DGCA, and Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) to advance this phase efficiently.

Pune Airport Expansion

In addition to the Purandar project, Mohol provided updates on the expansion plans for Pune airport. He disclosed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has approved the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) proposal to allocate 241 personnel for the new terminal. Discussions are also underway for runway expansion, necessitating an additional 35 acres of land acquisition. Plans are in place to secure funds from various governmental bodies to support these initiatives.

Appreciation and Collaboration

Mohol expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he received from supporters at Pune airport and commended his party, the BJP, for providing opportunities for grassroots workers to assume significant roles. He stressed the importance of collaboration across all assembly constituencies to strengthen the Mahayuti government and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to collaborate with Amit Shah.

As the Purandar airport project surges ahead with key approvals and Pune airport expansion plans take shape, Mohol’s leadership underscores the commitment to advancing aviation infrastructure and connectivity in the region.
