Pune: PCMC and Pimpri Chinchwad Police Collaborate to Streamline Online Permissions for Ganesh Mandals

As the much-awaited Ganeshotsava festival approaches, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has introduced an innovative online system to facilitate seamless permissions for Ganesh mandals looking to install pandals. This forward-thinking initiative aims to simplify the process for representatives of Ganesh mandals who would otherwise need to physically visit municipal offices and local police stations to obtain the necessary approvals. The development of this online permission system is attributed to the Information and Technology Department of the Municipal Corporation.

Under this newly implemented system, Ganesh mandals can submit online applications to both the municipal corporation and the local police, seeking permissions required for setting up pandals. The integration of these two portals is designed to enhance convenience for citizens, with Ganesh mandals receiving confirmation of permission exclusively through online channels. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the application process for permissions:

Process for Permission from the Municipal Corporation:

  1. Ganesh mandals are required to visit the official PCMC website at www.pcmcindia.gov.in and navigate to the Ganeshotsava 2023 section, where they will complete the registration process.
  2. To verify their identity, applicants will need to use the mobile number of the respective Ganesh mandal’s president to receive an OTP.
  3. After entering details related to their local ward office and election ward, the applications will be seamlessly forwarded to the local ward office of the Municipal Corporation.
  4. Subsequently, the local ward offices will digitally transmit the applications to the Building and Encroachment Department. The concerned departments will then issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to the ward offices.
  5. Ganesh mandals can proceed with installing their pandals according to the dimensions mentioned in their applications and track the status of their applications online.
  6. Importantly, the permissions granted by the Municipal Corporation will also be accessible to the Pimpri Chinchwad Police for verification.

Process for Permission from Pimpri Chinchwad Police:

  1. Representatives of Ganesh Mandals are required to submit online applications through the police website.
  2. Applicants will need to provide detailed information and upload photographs of the president, secretary, and treasurer. The verification of mobile numbers belonging to Ganesh mandal members will be carried out using OTPs.
  3. Applicants should select their respective local police station to ensure that their applications reach the appropriate authorities. Local traffic police will handle necessary permissions.
  4. This online system will also facilitate permissions for the use of loudspeakers during the festival.
  5. Ganesh mandals are expected to furnish additional details about their immersion procession and provide comprehensive information regarding their immersion plans.
  6. Applicants will also need to specify the locations where they intend to immerse the idols.
  7. The applications will be seamlessly shared with municipal councils and gram panchayats online, as the jurisdiction of Pimpri Chinchwad Police extends beyond the Municipal Corporation’s boundaries to encompass areas outside its purview.

This collaborative effort between PCMC and Pimpri Chinchwad Police is set to significantly streamline the process of obtaining permissions for Ganesh mandals, ensuring a smoother and more efficient celebration of the forthcoming Ganeshotsava festival.
