Pune Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar in action mode: 10 policemen including five officers suspended in two days

PUNE: Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar is in an action mode and in two days, he has suspended 10 policemen for being careless and for dereliction of duty. They include 2 PIs, an API, 2 PSIs and 5 policemen.

Incidents of vandalism were reported in the jurisdiction of Sahakar Nagar police station. The senior PI and six others were suspended for not handling four non-cognisable cases properly. Sr PI Savalaram Salgaonkar (Formerly with Sahakar Nagar police station, now posted at the control room), PI Manoj Eknath Shendge, API Sameer Vitthal Shende, PSI Hassan Maqbool Mulani, PSI Maruti Govind Waghmare, Havaldar Sandeep Jairam Potkule and Havaldar Vinayak Dattatraya Jambhale have been suspended.

A youth had assaulted a girl with a sickle near the Perugate police chowki in the jurisdiction of Vishrambaug police station. The three policemen stationed at the chowki were not present in the chowki. Hence, they also have been suspended. Havaldar Sunil Shantaram Tathe, Havaldar Prashant Prakash Jagdale and Havaldar Sagar Namdev Rane have been suspended. They have been blamed for dereliction of duty.

CP Ritesh Kumar has clarified that action will be taken against irresponsible and careless policemen in the future. The CP’s action has sent shivers down the spine of many policemen.
