Pimpri: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Tax Collection Department has attached 200 properties and disconnected 17 water supply connections of defaulters. The action has been taken as the defaulters did not pay the outstanding property tax even after issuing pre-attachment notices. The civic body has started taking strict action as the financial year will end after 2.5 months.
There are 6.15 lakh registered properties, including residential, industrial, non-residential, mixed, open plots, etc, within the limits of the PCMC. Its Tax Collection Department has set a target of collecting tax of Rs 1,000 crore in the FY 2023-24. Around Rs 680 crore has been recovered. The action of property attachment and water supply disconnection has begun to ensure higher tax collection.
The PCMC issued attachment notices to 33,241 property owners between April 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023. Outstanding bills of around Rs 584 crore are still to be paid by them. Properties of those owners are being attached who have not paid the dues even after issuing notices. Over 7,080 property owners paid the tax bills amounting to Rs 73.28 crore after the attachment squads reached their doorsteps. However, 200 properties have been attached.
Fugewadi has the highest number (38) of attached properties
The number of properties attached in various areas are: Akurdi – 03, Kivale – 32, Charholi – 04, Chinchwad – 14, Chikali – 16, Thergaon – 18, Dighi – 01, Nigdi Pradhikaran – 03, Fugewadi – 38, Bhosari – 16, PCMC Bhavan – 06, Moshi – 29, Wakad – 07 and Sangvi – 13.
Assistant Municipal Commissioner, Tax Collection Department, Nilesh Deshmukh said, “We have issued notices to defaulters. Strict action is being taken against those who are ignoring the notices. Till date, 200 properties have been attached.”
