PMC’s Aggressive Stand: Seizure of Properties for Unpaid Taxes to Commence on February 22

As the financial year enters its final stretch, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is gearing up for a robust initiative to recover unpaid property taxes. Commencing this Thursday, PMC officials will begin seizing properties of owners who have neglected to settle their outstanding tax dues.

Madhav Jagtap, Deputy Commissioner of Taxation at PMC, shared the details of the enforcement drive in a recent press release. Underlining the vital role tax collection plays in the city’s revenue, Jagtap revealed that PMC has set a specific target for this year’s collection. In a bid to meet this goal, the corporation is launching a comprehensive campaign that includes the measure of property seizure for tax recovery.

To streamline the tax payment process, special centers will be operational on government holidays and Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm, along with Sundays from 10 am to 2 pm. Citizens also have the option to conveniently pay their taxes online through the PMC website.

Jagtap emphasized the seriousness of the operation, stating, “Properties belonging to owners who have neglected their tax obligations will be subject to confiscation. Dedicated teams have been assigned to each zone to ensure the smooth execution of this operation.”
