Despite concerns raised about the incomplete construction of the building, PNG Jewelers proceeded with the inauguration of its new showroom in Nigdi, prompting regulatory action and public outcry.
Makarand Nikam, City Engineer (Civil) at PCMC, shed light on the matter, emphasizing the necessity of an Occupancy Certificate for commercial operations. Nikam clarified, “The absence of an Occupancy Certificate for PNG Jewelers’ Nigdi branch has prompted the issuance of a notice. This violation is compoundable, allowing the establishment to rectify the situation by paying fines. Failure to comply will result in further enforcement action by PCMC.”
The new showroom, spanning an area of 2800 square feet, has been under construction, with significant portions of the work remaining unfinished. While groundwork for the lower floor has been completed, interior work remains ongoing, raising concerns about safety and compliance with regulatory standards.
