Lunchtime Horror: Lizard Found in School Meal Triggers Panic Among Students

A distressing incident unfolded at Kamaraj Memorial English High and Junior College in Dharavi, sending shockwaves through the student body after a lizard was discovered in one of the food plates during lunchtime. Approximately 30 students were affected by the alarming discovery, leading to scenes of panic and concern among both students and faculty.

According to reports, the school had outsourced its lunch provision to a nearby hotel, JP Hotel, which typically supplied South Indian cuisine like Idli and Sambhar. However, what was meant to be a routine lunch turned into a nightmare when a student spotted the unwelcome intruder—a lizard—in the Sambhar dish. The unsettling sight triggered a wave of nausea among the students, with several of them experiencing vomiting episodes.

In response to the emergency, school authorities promptly adhered to safety protocols and transported the affected students to Ayush Clinic located nearby for thorough medical examination. Fortunately, the medical tests ruled out any cases of food poisoning among the students, providing relief to worried parents and faculty members.

Addressing the situation, DCP Tejaswi Satpute from Zone 5 assured that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had initiated an investigation into the matter, collecting samples of the contaminated food for laboratory analysis. Satpute emphasized the importance of awaiting the test results before determining further actions.

Meanwhile, a senior FDA official reiterated the agency’s commitment to ensuring food safety and public health, affirming that samples had been procured and dispatched to the lab for comprehensive testing. The official assured that the investigation would be conducted meticulously to ascertain the cause of the contamination and prevent future occurrences of such nature.

As the investigation unfolds, the incident serves as a sobering reminder of the critical importance of maintaining strict food safety standards in all aspects of food preparation and distribution, particularly within educational institutions catering to young students.
