Digital Transformation Delights Property Owners: Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Unveils Online Tax Services

Pimpri Chinchwad : In a double delight for property owners, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has ushered in the New Year with a digital leap in tax services. The Taxation and Tax Collection Department have introduced two significant changes to streamline and enhance citizen experience.

Starting January 1, property assessments are now accessible online, and all registrations post this date will be exclusively through the digital portal. Moreover, the department has introduced the online extraction of property tax statements, providing a hassle-free experience for property owners.

With a whopping 6,15,000 properties in Pimpri-Chinchwad, the Taxation and Collection Department has revamped their approach to ease charges and recovery processes. Previously, citizens faced the cumbersome task of visiting tax offices, manually searching assessment books, and enduring delays in obtaining handwritten transcripts.

From January 1 onwards, this entire process has been digitized, offering immediate access to transcripts for online registrants, with a nominal fee of 20 rupees.

For properties registered before December 31, 2023, details can be accessed via the ‘Property statement’ tab on the municipal website. The process involves filing details with the zonal office, computerized entry feeding by the Group Clerk, and sending links to property owners for online certificate retrieval. Offline facilities will no longer be available from January 1.

To obtain property tax statements, citizens can visit the municipal corporation website, select the taxation and tax collection department option, input their mobile number or property number, and follow the OTP-based process. The municipality encourages property owners to link their mobile numbers to their properties, with over four and a half lakh properties already linked.

Assistant Commissioner Nilesh Deshmukh, spearheading the Tax Collection and Taxation Department, initiated efforts to link property owners’ mobile numbers, leading to the availability of various online services. Plans include integrating databases with sub-registrar offices and digitizing old records for easy access.

Commissioner Shekhar Singh envisions transparent, dynamic, and accountable governance with these advancements, positioning Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation as a potential pioneer in the country.

Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil emphasizes ongoing efforts for a seamless property registration campaign, integrating departments, and sparing citizens from separate tax payments. The focus remains on benefiting property owners and ensuring efficiency.

Assistant Commissioner Nilesh Deshmukh underscores the commitment to modernize the tax collection department for the ultimate benefit of the city’s citizens.
