Landslide incident in Irshalwadi village in Khalapur is sad: Sharad Pawar

Mumbai: July 20 (UNI) NCP National President Sharad Pawar said on Thursday that the incident of a landslide in Irshalwadi village in Khalapur is very sad.

In his tweet, Pawar stated that the families of those who lost their lives in this unfortunate incident have faced a huge crisis. We share the suffering of the victims.

The state government is requested to carry out emergency rescue operations on war footing at the respective incident sites to safely evacuate the villagers trapped under the debris,he tweeted.

It may be noted that, due to torrential rains, incidents of landslides occurred last night around 2300 hours.

There are a total of 48 families with 225 people in this village.

State chief minister Eknath Shinde reached the spot with his cabinet colleagues and confirmed that there were four deaths and several feared trapped.

While, State opposition leader in council Ambadas Danve also reached the spot and interacted with the affected villagers.

Meanwhile, rescue teams, including the NDRF and local administration, reached the hill by foot and started the rescue operation.
