In a significant stride towards fostering the growth of artificial intelligence (AI) within India’s Digital Public Infrastructure, NVIDIA, a global leader in computing, is set to collaborate with the Indian government. Shanker Trivedi, a senior leader at NVIDIA, engaged in discussions with IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar at MeitY, exploring opportunities to contribute to the development of India’s Sovereign AI.
Trivedi conveyed NVIDIA’s strong interest in the concept of Sovereign AI, emphasizing its alignment with the nation’s expanding digital public infrastructure. He underscored the potential for NVIDIA to play a pivotal role in supporting the government’s initiatives with robust infrastructure designed for generative AI models.
“Together with a very strong infrastructure to run these generative AI models built on digital public infrastructure, it’s a huge opportunity for NVIDIA to partner with the government,” said Trivedi.
Vishal Dhupar, managing director, Asia South at NVIDIA, expressed gratitude for the fruitful discussions, emphasizing the critical role of Sovereign AI in addressing national priorities such as healthcare, agriculture, and education.

Huang’s mission is to assist countries in gaining control over AI development, ensuring that AI decisions align with each nation’s values and goals, particularly in critical sectors like healthcare and defense. He envisions AI not only transforming lives but also reshaping the identity of nations.
