AMG Unleashed: The Future of Performance with the 2025 Electric Sedan

Mercedes-AMG is gearing up for a groundbreaking shift in its performance lineup with the unveiling of a bespoke electric sedan set to replace the iconic GT 63. Scheduled for a global debut in 2025, this high-performance EV promises not only to challenge the current electric sports sedan champions but also to redefine AMG’s commitment to dynamic performance and engagement.

Mercedes-AMG EV Sedan Highlights:

Taking on the Electric Titans: The upcoming AMG EV sedan is poised to enter the ring with heavyweights like the Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron GT, and Lucid Air. As a dedicated performance car, it aims to deliver an electrifying blend of speed, agility, and driving engagement.

Bespoke Performance Architecture: Unlike its 53-badged predecessors based on the EQE and EQS duo, the new AMG electric sedan will be crafted from the ground up as a true performance machine. At the core of its design is the bespoke AMG.EA architecture, tailored to accommodate the sleek and low-slung aesthetics that define AMG’s combustion sports cars.

Innovative Electric Motor Technology: The AMG.EA platform introduces cutting-edge electric motor technology from British firm Yasa, acquired by Mercedes in 2021. Yasa’s axial-flux units promise higher power- and torque-density, enabling a lighter and more efficient electric motor. With a single motor boasting 800Nm of torque and 485hp, a twin-motor system could potentially push the power figures beyond 1000hp and 1350Nm.

Vision 2025 Concept Influence: The Vision 2025 concept, a motorsport-themed prototype, offers a glimpse into the upcoming performance sedan’s shape and size. With a focus on interior space, handling, and aerodynamic performance, the concept’s active aero components and streamlined silhouette set the stage for the future of AMG.

Innovative Battery Design: The EV will pioneer a new slimline, energy-dense battery design exclusive to AMG. Utilizing a silicon anode material from US firm Sila, the battery promises a 40 percent improvement in energy density over existing graphite anodes, enhancing range and freeing up interior space.

Bold Cabin Design and Futuristic Features: Following the lead of their Benz-badged counterparts, the new-era AMG cars will embrace a bold cabin design centered around a full-width high-definition screen. The 2025 sedan, described as a four-seater, hints at a larger successor accommodating a third seat in the rear.

As the prototypes hit the road in the coming months, the AMG EV sedan aims to make a lasting mark in 2025, setting new standards for electric performance sedans.
