Vivek Express: The Marvelous 4,200-Kilometer Odyssey Connecting 9 States in 4 Days


Embarking on an extraordinary 4,189-kilometer odyssey, the Vivek Express, India’s longest train connecting Dibrugarh in Assam to Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, is set to redefine rail travel. In an effort to enhance passenger convenience, the Northeast Frontier Railways has announced a significant increase in the train’s frequency, transforming it from a bi-weekly to a four-day weekly service starting May 2023.

A Journey Across 9 States:

Traversing through nine states and covering diverse landscapes, the Vivek Express’s extended journey provides passengers with an immersive experience of India’s cultural richness. With 59 stoppage points along its route, the train ensures connectivity and accessibility for travelers across the country.

Efficient Timings and Stoppages:

Despite the increase in frequency, the existing timings and stoppages of the train will remain unchanged, maintaining the efficiency of its current schedule. This strategic decision aims to retain the convenience and reliability that passengers have come to expect from the Vivek Express.

Enhanced Weekly Schedule:

Starting May 7, 2023, the Vivek Express will run on every Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Meanwhile, its return journey from Kanyakumari to Dibrugarh will take place every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Monday from May 11, 2023.

Comfort and Facilities Onboard:

Comprising 22 coaches, including AC Two-tier, AC Three-tier, Sleeper class, General seating, Pantry car, and Power cum luggage rakes, the train ensures a comfortable and well-equipped travel experience. Passengers can revel in the amenities provided, making the extensive journey a pleasant endeavor.

Pricing Details:

For passengers seeking the premium AC Two-tier experience, the fare is set at Rs 4,450 per head. AC Three-tier travelers will be charged Rs 3,015, while those opting for Sleeper class can embark on the journey for Rs 1,185.
