Pune : The Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati Trust, the pioneers in celebrating the public Ganpati Festival in India, served food to warkaris staying in Pune as a part of the annual palkhi procession. Thousands of warkaris availed the service, which is the annual tradition of the Trust.
The Sant Shrestha Shri Dnyaneshwar Mauli and Jagadguru Santshri Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi procession arrived in Pune on Monday (July 1). They had a two-day halt in the city. Puneites welcomed the palkhi processions with enthusiasm. The atmosphere of the entire city is charged with devotion after the arrival of warkaris.
The pilgrims are served in various ways by many social, business organisations and associations. The Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati Trust arranged food for the warkaris near temples. Many devotees visiting these temples also helped serve food to the warkaris.
Meanwhile, liver transplant specialist Dr Kailas Jawade, along with his colleagues, provided free medical care and foot massage for the pilgrims, who walk along the Sant Dnyaneshwar Mauli Palkhi from Pune to Jejuri, and the warkaris, who are a part of the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi procession from Pune to Akluj. Necessary medicines were made available to them through the Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati Trust.
“Maharashtra has this great tradition of Pandharpur Wari. Lakhs of devotees walk with the palkhis to Pandharpur to have a glimpse (Darshan) of their favourite deity, Vithuraya. It is our great fortune that Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati Trust has got the opportunity to provide food and medicines for these warkaris, who represent Shri Vitthal for us.”
