Pune: Three inmates beat up an inmate in the Yerwada Central Prison on suspicion that he passed on information to a rival group. Three inmates have been booked.
They have been identified as Shrikant Rajendra Kale, Sanjay Harish Bhosale and Akash Mangesh Saswade. Jail Officer Revnath Kanade lodged a complaint at the Yerwada Police Station in this regard.
The incident took place near barrack number 1 in the CJ Department of the prison at around 5 pm on June 14. Prisoner Yogesh Jagdish Sonawane was at his barrack when accused Kale, Bhosale and Saswade called him out. They started showering him with blows alleging passing of information to the rival group. Prison guards immediately detained the accused after the incident.
