BSNL Encourages Customers to Upgrade to 4G SIMs Through Digitalization

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has initiated a move to transition its customers from older SIM cards to upgraded 4G SIMs, paving the way for enhanced network services. With the imminent launch of its homegrown 4G services across various regions in the country, BSNL is urging its users to seize the opportunity for a seamless network experience. Collaborating with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Tejas Networks, and C-DoT (Centre for Development of Telematics), BSNL is set to introduce its advanced 4G services.

According to Ravi Kumar Bunga, Chief General Manager Telecom, Andhra Pradesh Circle, BSNL, the central government has introduced new digitalization norms. Many customers acquired their BSNL SIM cards through paper applications, and the company is now encouraging these customers to digitize their applications. To achieve this, customers can visit nearby BSNL offices or agents and complete the KYC (Know Your Customer) process by providing a copy of their Aadhaar document before September 9, 2023.

As per reports, approximately 900,000 customers in the state of Andhra Pradesh are still utilizing BSNL’s 3G services. To facilitate a smooth transition, these customers can upgrade to a 4G SIM without incurring any additional charges. It is important to note that BSNL has no immediate plans to discontinue its 2G or 3G services. Many users still rely on these legacy network services for connectivity purposes. However, the free 4G SIM upgrade presents an enticing opportunity for customers to embrace modernized network capabilities ahead of BSNL’s 4G launch.

Presently, BSNL is engaged in field tests and has introduced 4G services in beta mode in the state of Punjab. This phased approach allows BSNL to gather valuable data and feedback from users, facilitating a more refined and well-planned nationwide launch of its 4G services. As BSNL inches closer to this launch, customers can anticipate a seamless and improved network experience, catering to their connectivity needs in the digital age.
