Smooth Sailing for Cricket Enthusiasts: Road Diversion and Parking Plans for Gahunje Stadium World Cup Matches

Cricket fever is about to hit Pune with the upcoming World Cup matches at the Gahunje Stadium, and the Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Police have a game plan of their own. In an effort to ensure hassle-free access for spectators on November 8 (England vs. Netherlands match) and November 11 (Australia vs. Bangladesh match), they’ve laid out detailed parking and traffic route arrangements.

The Road to Gahunje: Navigating Parking and Routes

Under the backdrop of the World Cup Cricket Tournament 2023, scheduled for 08/11/2023 and 11/11/2023, here’s a breakdown of parking arrangements and routes for both four-wheeler and two-wheeler vehicles for cricket enthusiasts heading to watch the exciting matches:

Route for Spectator Vehicles from Mumbai:

  1. For those coming from Mumbai, the journey to Gahunje Stadium begins by taking a left turn from the Dehu Road exit of the Expressway. Immediately following this, a left turn leads to the road that guides spectators to the stadium. The parking area is conveniently located along the service road adjacent to the express highway at Mamurdi Village.
  2. Vehicles approaching from the Expressway should execute a U-turn from Kiwale Bridge at Mukai Chowk. Subsequently, they should follow the Krishna Chowk Marg expressway along the service road adjacent to Symbiosis College. This route will take them to the stadium and parking lot.
  3. Please note that the entry of spectator vehicles from the old Mumbai Pune Highway will be restricted from Shitladevi Mandir to Mamurdi Village (via Underpass and the road near Mamurdi Jakat Naka on Bangalore Highway through Somatne Phata, Central Chowk). As an alternative, vehicles on this route can make a left turn from Shitladevi Mandir to Lekha Farm, following the service road leading to the stadium and parking lot.

Route for Spectator Vehicles from Pune:

  1. Spectator vehicles originating from Pune via Pune Bangalore Highway should pass the Pawana River Bridge and Hotel Santonsa. Afterward, they should take a gradual left turn from Kiwale Bridge. From there, a service road on the left side of the dual carriageway will guide them to the stadium and parking lot.
  2. For those arriving from Nigdi, Hanging Bridge, through Ravet Chowk, Bhondve Chowk, and Mukai Chowk, a right turn from Krishna Chowk and a left turn from the express highway will direct them to the service road leading to the stadium and parking lot.

Important Traffic Notes:

  • It’s essential to be aware that the old Mumbai Pune highway from Gahunje Stadium through Sainath Nagar will operate as one-way traffic only. Access to the stadium via Sainath Nagar will not be allowed.
  • All types of vehicles will be prohibited from Central Chowk – Kanetkar Bangla Chowk via Sainagar.

Enjoy the thrilling World Cup matches at Gahunje Stadium, knowing that the Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Police have your journey covered with these well-thought-out road diversions and parking plans.
