Mumbai Suburban’s Viraj Rane and Mysha Perwez Shine in Maharashtra State Under 11 Open and Girls FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2023

Pune, July 30, 2023: The Maharashtra State Under 11 Open and Girls FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2023, organized by the Pune District Chess Circle and sponsored by Truspace, Kores India Ltd, and SP, concluded at Shree Ganesh Sabhagruha and Ashwamedh Hall, Karve Road, with Mumbai Suburban players, Viraj Rane and Mysha Perwez, emerging victorious in their respective categories.

In the Girls event, Mysha Perwez, a 6th standard student of Billabong International School, Mumbai Suburban, showcased her skills playing the Italian opening and secured a win against Tvesha Jain of Mumbai City to clinch the title. Mysha finished the tournament with an impressive 8.5 points.

In the Open Event, Viraj Rane from Mumbai Suburban drew his last game against Kolhapur’s Abhay Bhosale, securing 7 points and emerging as the winner.

The winners were awarded trophies and a cash prize of Rs. 3000, while the runners-up received trophies and Rs. 2000. The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Mr. Ashwin Trimal, VP of PDCC, Mr. Rohit Madaan, Engineering and Supply Chain Manager of Snark Power Pvt Ltd, Dr. Sanjay Karawde, Secretary of PDCC, and Mr. Harnish Raja, Member of PDCC. Mr. Prakash Kunte, VP of PDCC, Dr. Dipak Ripote, Chief Arbiter Dipti Shidore, Mr. Rajendra Shidore, and tournament director Vinita Shotri were also present on the occasion.

  • Aarush Dolas (Pune) – 7.5 points defeated Sahejveer Singh Maras (Nagpur) – 7 points
  • Shaashvat Gupta (Pune) – 7.5 points defeated Aditya Joshi (Pune) – 6.5 points
  • Shaunak Badole (Nagpur) – 7 points defeated Arjun Singh (Mumbai Sub) – 6.5 points
  • Aaryan Waghmare (Thane) – 7 points defeated Heet Baldawa (Kolhapur) – 6 points
  • Shitiz Prasad (Pune) – 6 points lost to Sidhant Salunke (Pune) – 7 points
  • Advik Agrawal (Pune) – 6.5 points defeated Mukil R (Raigad) – 5.5 points
  • Bhanushali Neemay (Mumbai Sub) – 6 points drew with Prabhu Arjun (Mumbai Sub) – 6 points
  • Raghav Pawade (Pune) – 6 points defeated Om Ramgude (Pune) – 5.5 points
  • Aahaan Mathur (Mumbai Sub) – 6 points drew with Yug Bardiya (Pune) – 6 points

  • Siddhi Karve (Kolhapur) – 5.5 points lost to Divyanshi Khandelwal (Nagpur) – 7 points
  • Anvi Hirde (Nagpur) – 6.5 points defeated Sajiri Deshmukh (Satara) – 5.5 points
