91 Athletes Set to Compete in ITF Sprint National Triathlon Championships 2023

Pune, August 14, 2023: The stage is set for an exhilarating showcase of athleticism as a total of 91 athletes from 20 different states gear up to participate in the prestigious ITF Sprint National Triathlon Championships 2023. The event is being organized by the Maharashtra Triathlon Association in collaboration with the Indian Triathlon Federation and is scheduled to take place at the Swimming Complex and internal roads of Shree Shivchatrapati Kreeda Sankul, Mhalunge Balewadi, Pune, from August 15th to 17th, 2023.

Addressing the press, prominent figures including Mr. Dayanand Kumar, President of Maharashtra Triathlon Association, Mr. Rajendran Nimbalte, Secretary of Maharashtra Triathlon Association, and Mr. Harish Prasad, Development Officer of Indian Triathlon Federation, expressed their excitement about the upcoming event. Mr. Dayanand Kumar conveyed his pride in hosting the National Championship in Pune after a gap of six years. He also expressed gratitude towards their partner, Mini Orange, for their support as sponsors of the event.

The championship will feature individual Sprint distances, including a 750m swim, an 18.6km cycle, and a 4.8km run. Additionally, there will be a Mixed Team Relay, encompassing a 250m swim, a 6.2km cycle, and a 2.4km run.

Athletes hailing from 20 states, namely Maharashtra, Assam, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Gujarat, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and SSCB (Services Sports Control Board), are expected to participate in this exciting competition. Mr. Harish Prasad, Development Officer from ITF, pointed out that the championship also holds significance as a qualification event for the upcoming National Games in Goa. Moreover, athletes who are representing India in the Asian Games and Commonwealth Youth Games 2023 will also be partaking in this event, adding to its prestige and importance.

Among the participants, some of the standout triathletes to watch out for include Adarsh Muralidharan (SSCB), Rahul Shinde (SSCB), Nganba Meitei (Manipur), Pragyna Mohan (Gujarat), Sanjana Joshi (Maharashtra), and Mansi Mohite (Maharashtra). These skilled athletes are expected to deliver exceptional performances during the championship, particularly on the 16th and 17th of August.

The ITF Sprint National Triathlon Championships 2023 promises to be a thrilling display of athletic prowess and competitive spirit, bringing together the finest triathletes from across India to compete on a national platform.
