Pune: Maha Yuti-BJP Lok Sabha candidate Murlidhar Mohol has expressed confidence that slum-dwellers will get their rightful houses as the Maha Yuti government has prepared new rules and regulations.

He said, “Under the new rules, 51 per cent slum-dwellers’ assent will be required as against earlier 70 per cent. They will get a 300-sq ft unit each. Moreover, a rehabilitation project will have a deadline for completion.”

A poll rally was organised for Mohol’s campaign in Pashan, Someshwarwadi, Baner and Balewadi. State Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, MP Medha Kulkarni, Datta Gaikwad, Amol Balwadkar, Jyoti Kalamkar, Swapnali Saikar, Sunny Nimhan, Rohini Chimte, Pramod Nimhan, Lahu Balwadkar, Amol Sutar, Sachin Pasalkar, Sachin Dalvi, Prakash Balwadkar, Rahul Kokate, Aniket Murkute, Suhas Nimhan, Vishal Vidhate, Rahul Balwadkar, Pravin Shinde, Sangram Murkute and Subhash Bhor participated in the rally.

Mohol said, “There are 557 slums in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, out of which 286 have been declared so. The undeclared number is 271. There are over two lakh shanties, in which 12 lakh dwellers live.”

Mohol said, “The regulations mandated that they are to be rehabilitated at their current location or another location within 2-km periphery. In the revised regulations, they can be rehabilitated within 5-km periphery. To encourage such projects, higher FSI is granted and other concessions are given. The Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) will take up projects on government land. This will speed up rehabilitation.”
