No reshuffle in State BJP, Devendra Fadnavis to continue as ‘boss’

Mumbai: The BJP’s performance in Maharashtra in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections was not good. The ruling Maha Yuti, of which the BJP is a constituent, could not send 45 MPs from the State as the alliance predicted.

Therefore, the BJP alone could not reach the magic figure at the Centre. In this backdrop, a reshuffle in the State BJP was expected. However, it was clarified after a meeting of the central leadership and the BJP Core Committee of the State BJP that there would be no change in the party’s leadership in Maharashtra. Union Minister Piyush Goyal gave clear indications of the decision.

Later, DyCM Devendra Fadnavis spoke to the media. He said, “The State BJP Core Committee meeting was held with the central leadership. An extensive discussion was held on the results in the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra. All issues, including the less number of votes, a good number of votes, their areas and reasons behind them and the impact were discussed.

“A primary discussion was also held on the roadmap for the State Assembly polls. We will contest the elections, along with the other constituents of the alliance. We will soon take steps to face the polls with all our strength by discussing our plan with the alliance partners.”
