Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Dhananjay Munde visits snail affected areas in Beed

Beed, Jul 23 (UNI) Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Dhananjay Munde on Sunday inspected the fields in Belamba, Waghbet villages of Parli taluka of the district, where crops such as soybean and cotton were damaged by snails.

Upon receiving complaints of snail attack on crops such as soybean and cotton in Kaij, Ambajogai areas of Beed district along with Parli Vaijnath taluka and some other districts of Marathwada like last year, the minister inspected some villages in Parli taluka, where there has been widespread infestation of snails, and interacted with farmers.

If there is any impact on total income of a farmer due to infestation of snails, then the officials of Revenue and Agriculture departments should do the ‘panchnama’ of the damaged crops, he said and informed that he has directed the Relief and Rehabilitation department officials to provide financial support to such farmers.

Munde also took information from the Agriculture department officials about various ways and means to destroy the snails.

He instructed the district collector to investigate and take an immediate decision in this regard.
