BJP Ticket Aspirants in Intense Competition for Pune Lok Sabha Seat Ahead of Elections

With the Pune Lok Sabha seat up for grabs following the unfortunate demise of sitting MP Girish Bapat earlier this year, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is witnessing a fierce competition among ticket aspirants gearing up for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Among the frontrunners is former Pune mayor Murlidhar Mohol, who has been actively engaging with the public through party functions, cultural events, and sports programs. His consistent efforts to maintain connections at both state and national levels have positioned him as a strong contender.

Former BJP Pune unit chief Jagdish Mulik has also expressed his desire to contest the seat and has been organizing various events, including a marathon with substantial prizes. Another significant challenger is Sunil Deodhar, who, with his close association with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, brings a formidable presence to the competition. Deodhar has started reaching out to the public through various programs in anticipation of the elections.

Former Rajya Sabha MP and real estate developer Sanjay Kakade has thrown his hat into the ring, expressing his preparedness to contest the Pune Lok Sabha seat if the party grants him the ticket.

The Pune Lok Sabha seat, traditionally held by the BJP with significant victories in 2014 and 2019, has been left vacant after Girish Bapat’s passing. The Election Commission’s decision to defer the by-election has led to a surge in enthusiasm among BJP supporters and ticket aspirants.

While the BJP faces challenges, both internal and external, the competition among aspirants underscores the significance of the Pune Lok Sabha seat and the strategic importance it holds in the upcoming elections.
