In the midst of swirling speculations about his political affiliations, Maharashtra Congress leader Amit Deshmukh unequivocally dismissed the notion of joining the BJP. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Latur International Film Festival on Thursday, Deshmukh addressed the rumors, asserting that he is content with his current role and not enticed by political thrones that come with attached chains.
Deshmukh, who served as a minister in the previous MVA government and is the son of the late former chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, made his stance clear amid comments from MLC Vikram Kale of the Ajit Pawar-led NCP and BJP MP Sudhakar Shrangare. Both had expressed expectations of Deshmukh making a similar move to the BJP following the recent entry of former chief minister Ashok Chavan into the party.
“I am not tempted by thrones that have chains attached. I am fine wherever I am,” Deshmukh declared, drawing parallels to renowned films ‘Simhasan’ and ‘Samna’ by filmmaker Jabbar Patel.
This statement from Deshmukh comes amidst a dynamic political landscape in Maharashtra, with various leaders making strategic shifts. However, he remains steadfast in his commitment to his current political standing, dispelling any rumors of an imminent switch.
