In an exciting development set to transform urban transportation in India, Rapidx, the country’s very first rapid rail system, is on the verge of its grand inauguration. The unveiling of Rapidx, scheduled during the auspicious Navratri festival, symbolizes a significant leap in progress and empowerment.

Rapidx – A New Era of Urban Transit

Rapidx, India’s inaugural rapid rail system, is poised to revolutionize the way we envision urban commuting. The honor of inaugurating this groundbreaking system on the 17-kilometer priority corridor in Ghaziabad goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The event’s historic significance is further accentuated by the participation of women pilots, marking a landmark moment for India.

Rapidx: India’s First Rapid Rail, Rapidx Innovations and Expansions

The Sahibabad to Duhai Depot corridor, ready for launch, provides a glimpse of the future of urban transit. During this event, the NCR Transport Corporation (NCRTC) will introduce its mobile application, “RAPIDX CONNECT.” Additionally, an indigenously crafted platform screen corridor will be virtually unveiled. The spotlight also falls on the forthcoming Sarai Kale Khan terminus in Delhi, poised to become the central hub for all upcoming Regional Rail Train System (RRTS) corridors.

By 2025, the extensive Delhi-Meerut Rapidx network is expected to be fully operational.

Features of Rapidx – India’s First Rapid Rail

Rapidx trains are set to redefine the passenger experience. Comprising six state-of-the-art coaches, these trains feature four standard coaches, a premium coach with luxurious seating, and a dedicated women’s coach. With potential speeds that rival the Vande Bharat, Rapidx promises swift and efficient transportation, albeit at controlled operational speeds.

Looking Ahead with Rapidx

The initial fare for the Rapid Rail is set at Rs 2 per kilometer, subject to possible revisions. As the phases of the expansive Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor come into play, commuters can anticipate significantly reduced travel times. With the introduction of Rapidx, the journey from Sahibabad to Duhai could be completed in a brisk 12 minutes.

The emphasis on women, not only as pilots but also in various roles spanning station control, management, and customer care, underscores the system’s commitment to progress and empowerment.
