Pune, 23rd August 2023: In an atmosphere filled with jubilation and pride, officials, employees, and workers at Walchandnagar Industries Ltd (WIL) in Walchandnagar, located in Indapur, celebrated the resounding success of India’s remarkable Chandrayaan-3 mission. This remarkable achievement has captured global attention and has brought a sense of accomplishment to the entire nation.
Walchandnagar Industries Ltd played a crucial and pivotal role in the Chandrayaan-3 mission. Chirag Doshi, the Managing Director, and Chief Executive Officer of the company, expressed how the success of Chandrayaan-3 has added another feather of honor to WIL’s cap.
A noteworthy contribution from WIL was the manufacturing of four out of the six booster motors (S-200) used in the Chandrayaan mission. These boosters consisted of critical components such as the head end segment, middle segment, nozzle end segment, and plex nozzle control tack, all of which were integral to the mission’s first stage. The historic flight, which took off on July 14th, culminated in the triumphant landing of the rover on the lunar surface, evoking immense pride and exultation among the officers and employees of WIL.

It’s worth mentioning that Walchandnagar Industries Ltd had previously played vital roles in the Chandrayaan-1 and Chandrayaan-2 missions, as well as the Mangalyaan mission. With a rich history spanning five decades in the aerospace sector, the company has consistently manufactured crucial equipment. Currently, WIL is actively involved in crafting significant components for India’s ambitious Gaganyaan mission, including deliveries of some components to ISRO.
