Ayodhya Airport Accelerates: Phase I Completion Set for December 15, Ahead of Ram Temple Inauguration

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that the first phase of Ayodhya’s international airport, named Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport, will be completed by December 15, a significant milestone preceding the inauguration of the Ram Temple. The airport’s capacity to accommodate Boeing 737, Airbus 319, and Airbus 320 aircraft marks a crucial step in Ayodhya’s development.

During a visit to the airport site on Saturday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Minister of State for Civil Aviation VK Singh, emphasized Ayodhya’s transformation into a symbol of the ‘New India’ envisioned by Prime Minister Modi.

Initially covering a small airstrip of 178 acres, Ayodhya’s airport is rapidly evolving into a significant international hub, with the state government allocating 821 acres of land for the project. Under the guidance of the Airport Authority of India, urgent efforts are underway to complete the first phase by December 15, showcasing the government’s commitment to Ayodhya’s progress and the provision of essential infrastructure.

Scindia highlighted that the airport’s construction incorporates the cultural essence of Ayodhya. In the initial phase, a 65,000-square-foot terminal is being built, capable of handling 2-3 flights per hour. Simultaneously, work is progressing on a 2,200-meter runway to facilitate the landing of aircraft such as the Boeing 737, Airbus 319, and Airbus 320.

In the second phase, the runway will be extended to 3,700 meters, allowing wide-bodied planes like the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and the Boeing 777 to land directly in Ayodhya. The terminal area will also see expansion to cover 5 lakh square feet.

This significant development reflects the collective efforts to enhance Ayodhya’s connectivity and infrastructure, aligning with the city’s cultural and historical importance.
