Pandharpur Wari 2024: Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Sohala Timetable Released

The Jagadguru Shri Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan has announced the timetable for the 339th Palkhi Sohala of Shri Sant Tukaram Maharaj. This revered event sees the Warkari community undertake their annual pilgrimage to Pandharpur for Ashadhi Ekadashi, a significant occasion in the Hindu calendar.

Key Dates and Venues

The Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Sohala 2024 will commence with a departure ceremony on the afternoon of June 28. The palanquin, a symbol of devotion, will reach Pandharpur on July 16, 2024, coinciding with Ashadhi Ekadashi.

The timetable, announced on December 25 by the chief coordinators Manik Maharaj More, Vishal Maharaj More, and Santosh Maharaj More, details the route and stops of the pilgrimage. The Palkhi will remain in Pandharpur from July 16 to July 21, after which it will begin its return journey to Dehu, arriving on July 31.

A Sacred Journey

Each year, the Warkari community embarks on the Wari pilgrimage, honoring the spiritual legacy of saints like Sant Dnyaneshwar and Sant Tukaram. This journey is marked by deep faith, communal devotion, and the carrying of palanquins from the saints’ samadhi places to Pandharpur.

New Venue for Palkhi Ceremony

For the first time, the Palkhi ceremony will be held at the newly built temple of Shri Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan on Nagarpradakshina Road in Pandharpur. This adds a fresh dimension to the historic event, blending tradition with modernity.

June 29: Stops at Hajrat Sayyad Angadshah Baba Dargah for the first Abhanga Aarti and the Paduka Temple in Chincholi for the second Abhanga Aarti. Evening halt at Shri Vitthal Temple in Akurdi. June 30 – July 1: Stay at Shri Nivdungya Vitthal Temple, Nana Peth, Pune. July 2: Departure from Pune to Loni Kalbhor, overnight stay at the new Palkhi base. July 3: Stay at Bhairavnath Temple, Yavat. July 4: Halt at Vitthal Temple, Varvand. July 5: Stay at Undawadi. July 6: Stay at Baramati Sharda Vidyalaya premises. July 7: Halt at Sansar. July 8: First Ringan at Belwadi, overnight stay at Anthurne. July 9: Stay at Nimgaon Ketki. July 10: Second Ringan at Indapur. July 12: Morning bath at Nira, stay at Akluj, third Ringan in the afternoon. July 13: First standing Ringan at Malinagar, stay at Borgaon. July 14: Evening halt at Tondale Bondale, stay at Pirachi Kuroli. July 15: Second standing Ringan at Bajirao Well. July 16: Departure for Pandharpur from Bakhri, final standing Ringan in the evening, arrival at Shri Sant Tukaram Maharaj Temple.
