MPSC Postpones PSI Field Test Amid Lok Sabha Elections

Delay Raises Concerns Over Planning and Preparation for Maharashtra Secondary Services Non-Gazetted Group B Main Examination

In a move that has sparked concern among aspirants, the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has announced the postponement of the Physical Test for the Police Sub Inspector (PSI) Cadre. The decision, attributed to the need for manpower during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, has left candidates without a clear timeline, highlighting issues with planning and preparation.

The Physical Test, originally scheduled from April 15th to May 2nd, 2024, has been put on hold due to the demands on police personnel for election duties. Despite the postponement, MPSC has yet to provide a revised schedule, leaving candidates in limbo.

This development comes amid criticism of MPSC’s planning, particularly regarding the timeline for preparation. While the modified criteria for the PSI exam were introduced in 2021, candidates, especially women, have expressed concerns over the limited time afforded for readiness. The abrupt announcement of exam dates, coupled with the challenging summer conditions, has compounded the stress faced by aspirants.

“The sudden change in plans and lack of adequate preparation time have added to the anxiety of candidates, particularly women,” remarked Supriya, a female aspirant. “MPSC’s decision to postpone the field test is a welcome relief, offering much-needed time to prepare effectively.”

Echoing Supriya’s sentiments, Mahesh Bade, Head of the Students’ Rights Association, emphasized the importance of prompt communication regarding the rescheduled exam dates. “Clarity on the new timeline is essential for candidates to plan and strategize their preparation,” he stated.

The postponement of the field test has been met with relief from various quarters, including Mahesh Gharbude, Working Chairman of Spardha Pariksha Samanvay Samiti. “The decision to delay the exam is a positive step, addressing the concerns raised by women candidates,” he affirmed.

Amid the uncertainty surrounding MPSC exams, including the Maharashtra Gazetted Civil Services Combined Preliminary Examination 2024 and the Social Welfare Officer exams, candidates await clarity on rescheduled dates.

Aspirants brace for a period of prolonged preparation as they await further updates from MPSC, underscoring the need for transparent communication and effective planning in conducting competitive exams.
