In a significant development, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Friday that the travel time between Nagpur and Pune is expected to be reduced to six hours. This comes as part of the ambitious redevelopment project of the Pune-Ahmednagar-Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar corridor (formerly Aurangabad) of NH-753F, along with the establishment of a new greenfield six-lane expressway.
Currently, the journey between the two cities takes eight hours via the Samruddhi Mahamarg.
The announcement was made following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Centre and the Maharashtra government. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC) MD Brajesh Dixit, and other officials were present during the signing ceremony, with MSIDC overseeing both projects.
Gadkari, addressing the gathering, hailed these projects as landmarks that would not only generate toll revenue but also significantly reduce travel time between major cities. “Commuters from Pune will soon reach Nagpur in just six hours, easing traffic congestion on routes to Ahmednagar and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar,” he remarked.
Furthermore, Gadkari urged Fadnavis to focus on developing logistic parks and fostering industrial clusters along both highways, emphasizing their potential to generate ₹100 crore in revenue for the government.
As these transformative projects unfold, residents and businesses alike eagerly anticipate the positive impact on connectivity, commerce, and overall regional development.
