Eye Flu Outbreak: Nashik’s Public Parks Closed for 15 Days as Precaution

In response to the rising number of eye flu cases in Nashik city, the Nashik Municipal Corporation has taken the decision to temporarily close all public parks for a period of 15 days. With over 4,000 reported cases of eye flu, the civic administration aims to curb the spread of the infection and protect the health of residents.

The health department is actively encouraging individuals not to panic but to adopt necessary precautions. Since eye flu is a contagious viral infection, seeking immediate medical attention is crucial if any symptoms of the disease are observed.

Symptoms of eye flu may include:

  • Sensation of having a scratched eye
  • Red and pink eyes
  • Itching and burning sensation in the eyes
  • Eyelids sticking together upon waking up
  • Swelling of the eyelids
  • Continuous tearing of the eyes

To safeguard against the infection, several precautionary measures are advised:

  • Refrain from visiting crowded places once symptoms manifest
  • Avoid sharing personal items like towels, handkerchiefs, pillows, and sheets with others
  • Minimize direct physical contact with individuals both at home and outside
  • Practice frequent hand washing with soap
  • Refrain from frequently touching the eyes and face
  • Utilize protective goggles or sunglasses
  • Seek medical treatment as prescribed by a doctor, avoiding self-medication

Eye flu is typically a mild condition that lasts for around four to five days. Even though it might be mild in nature, prompt attention, proper care, and timely medication are essential for a complete and speedy recovery.
