Runway Ready: Air India’s Stylish Transformation by Manish Malhotra

Air India has taken a stylish leap forward with the unveiling of its newly designed uniforms for cabin crew and pilots, courtesy of renowned fashion maestro Manish Malhotra. The revamped attire, set for a phased rollout in the coming months, showcases a fusion of traditional and contemporary elements, adding a touch of glamour to the skies.

For the female cabin crew, the highlight is the ombre saree with a modern twist, adorned with Vista-inspired patterns. The addition of comfortable pants provides a blend of East-meets-West, allowing greater flexibility for the expression of individual style. The male crew members, on the other hand, will sport sophisticated bandhgalas, exuding a timeless and refined look.

The cockpit crew’s uniform, designed by Malhotra, features classic black suits with prints inspired by the new Air India logo, creating a sense of continuity with the airline’s fresh visual identity. The rollout is set to coincide with the introduction of Air India’s first Airbus A350.

Manish Malhotra expressed his pride in designing uniforms that encapsulate the rich diversity of India’s culture, seamlessly blending tradition with a modern and sophisticated aesthetic. He stated, “It is a privilege to be able to contribute to the national flag-bearer and showcase the elegance and charm of Indian fashion.”

Campbell Wilson, CEO and Managing Director of Air India, praised the innovative ensembles, emphasizing their importance in the airline’s history. He said, “Manish Malhotra’s innovative ensemble will script an exciting new chapter for Air India’s future narrative. It perfectly captures the essence of our new identity, service principles, and our pursuit of setting new benchmarks in global aviation.”

In addition to the uniforms, Manish Malhotra curated matching footwear, ensuring attention to detail. Female crew members will wear dual-tone block heels, while male cabin crew will sport comfortable black brogues. The ensembles are completed with pearl earrings and sling bags, adding an extra touch of elegance.

While the uniforms for ground staff, engineers, and security personnel are yet to be unveiled, the anticipation is high for the continuation of this stylish transformation throughout the entire Air India team.
