Intriguingly, one of the founding brothers, LU Mongini, held an unexpected connection to Italian dictator Mussolini. Reports suggest that LU Mongini supported Mussolini’s fascist ideology and regarded him as a savior who protected Italy from communism’s grip. LU Mongini’s involvement extended to his directorship of the Fascism Centre in Bombay and membership in various associations promoting Italy and its culture.

Articles penned by LU Mongini from the Monginis Church Gate outlet openly praised Mussolini’s rule, underscoring the immense service rendered by the leader to Italy. His words echoed how, in his perspective, fascism safeguarded Italy from potential catastrophe.

A Legacy of Evolution

In 1958, the Khorakiwala family assumed control of Monginis Catering, transforming it into Monginis Foods Private Limited. This marked the introduction of the franchise business model in 1971, emphasizing the production of goods tailored to regional tastes. Over time, the menu expanded, outlets multiplied, and the brand flourished.

The Khorakiwala family’s influence saw Monginis crossing national boundaries and expanding its business to Egypt. An exemplary addition to the brand’s journey was the introduction of eggless cakes and vegetarian treats in 1997, setting new benchmarks.

Under the leadership of Zohar Khorakiwala, the brand continued to soar. Expanding its portfolio and venturing into packaged cakes, Monginis continued its upward trajectory. In 2011, the brand embraced the digital age with the launch of its first e-commerce website.

Monginis’ legacy now spans more than 100 years, standing as a testament to its unwavering dedication to quality and innovation. With over 900 cake shops across various cities in India, the brand has touched lives with its flavorsome creations.
