Deadline Alert: Update Aadhaar Card Details Online for Free – Follow These Simple Steps

In a recent announcement, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for updating Aadhaar card details online for free until March 14. The decision comes in response to the positive feedback received from residents, and the UIDAI aims to facilitate a hassle-free process for individuals to keep their information current.

Residents can update details such as name, address, and other demographic changes through the myAadhaar portal without incurring any charges until the specified deadline. For those preferring a physical update, Common Services Centres (CSC) offer the same service for a nominal fee of ₹50.

The Aadhaar body is also urging individuals whose Aadhaar cards were issued a decade ago and have not been updated since to upload Proof of Identity and Proof of Address (PoI/PoA) documents. This step is crucial to revalidate demographic details.

How to Update Aadhaar Card Details Online:

  1. Log in to myAadhaar portal using your Aadhaar number.
  2. Select the ‘Proceed to Update Address’ option.
  3. Enter the one-time password (OTP) sent to your registered mobile number.
  4. Click on ‘Document Update,’ and existing details will be displayed.
  5. Verify the details and click on the next hyperlink.
  6. Choose Proof of Identity and Proof of Address documents from the dropdown list.
  7. Upload the address proof.
  8. Click ‘Submit’ and upload the necessary documents.
  9. The update request will be accepted once a 14-digit Update Request Number (URN) is generated.

  1. Visit myAadhaar portal.
  2. Log in and select “Name/Gender/Date of Birth & Address Update,” then click on “Update Aadhaar Online.”
