PMC Approves Town Planning Schemes for Uruli Devachi and Phursungi: A Step Towards Organized Urban Development

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has granted its final approval for the implementation of town planning schemes in Uruli Devachi and Phursungi. These schemes, covering a total area of 650 hectares, have been proposed to accommodate the growing urban development in these areas. However, despite the state government’s announcement of separate municipal councils for Uruli Devachi and Phursungi, the final notification for their establishment has not yet been issued.

The PMC’s general body has given its consent for the town planning schemes and has submitted the necessary report to the state government for approval. In Phursungi, two town planning schemes have been proposed, while in Uruli Devachi, one scheme has been proposed. These schemes aim to effectively plan the development of the areas, considering factors such as infrastructure, roads, and amenities.

Prashant Waghmare, the city engineer, explained, “The PMC had prepared the town planning schemes in alignment with the proposed ring roads. The draft schemes were published in 2019, and public suggestions and objections were invited.”

“We received a total of 191 objections, and based on these, we made the necessary revisions to the schemes. Now, the proposals for the town planning schemes have been forwarded to the urban development department for the final approval,” he added.

It is important to note that alongside the establishment of the new municipal councils, the state government has ensured that the land allocated for the garbage depot will remain under the jurisdiction of the PMC. This ensures that waste management and disposal facilities will continue to be managed by the corporation, even with the introduction of the new municipal councils.

Once the state government grants its approval for the town planning schemes, the necessary steps can be taken to initiate the planned development in Uruli Devachi and Phursungi. The schemes aim to streamline the urban growth in these areas, providing well-planned infrastructure and amenities for the residents.
