Pune International Centre Unveils ‘Waste to Wealth’ Playbook for Sustainable Solutions

Pune: Pune International Centre (PIC) has reached a groundbreaking milestone in sustainable practices with the launch of its ‘Waste to Wealth’ playbook. The unveiling ceremony, graced by Dr. R A Mashelkar on January 1, 2024, coincided with his birthday, and marked the release of a comprehensive guide aimed at promoting innovative solutions in waste management.

Dr. Mashelkar, President of PIC and a distinguished figure in the fields of science and innovation, presided over the launch event. The playbook, a product of PIC’s Social Innovation Lab (SI Lab), presents 10 case studies highlighting the efforts of social enterprises dedicated to transforming waste into valuable resources.

The book launch event witnessed the presence of key figures, including Dr. Vijay Kelkar, Vice President, PIC; Mr. Pradeep Bhargava, former President, MCCIA; Mr. Prashant Girbane, General Secretary, PIC; Mr. Abhay Vaidya, Director, PIC; and Mr. Amit Bhargava, PIC-SI Lab mentor, representing all the authors of the playbook.

The ‘Waste to Wealth’ playbook serves as a guide, offering valuable insights into the patterns and lessons learned by social enterprises operating in the waste-to-wealth sector. With a focus on 10 case studies, the guide becomes an essential resource for those engaged in similar initiatives, providing crucial lessons for startup founders venturing into sustainable practices.
